Embarking on an ambitious challenge to conquer seven mountains in Sichuan province within a span of 25 days was a venture rooted in both passion and sheer determination. The idea was birthed from a deep-seated love for mountaineering and a desire to push the limits of human endurance. This bold expedition aimed to traverse some of the most formidable terrains, combining the thrill of adventure with the majesty of nature.
The motivations behind this expedition were manifold. A yearning to explore the uncharted regions of Sichuan, a province renowned for its picturesque landscapes and rugged mountain ranges, was a primary driver. Additionally, the aspiration to achieve a personal milestone, coupled with the exhilarating challenge of enduring and overcoming the physical and mental hurdles posed by such a feat, played a significant role.
Preparation for this rigorous journey was meticulously planned within a short span of time. Weeks were spent researching the unique characteristics and difficulties of each mountain. To engaged in progressive physical training regimens, enhancing stamina, strength, and resilience. Preparation also included organising essential gear, securing permits through local mountaineering clubs, and planning logistics to ensure all safety measures were in place.
The sense of excitement and anticipation was palpable as I set off. The adventure began with a successful climb of Cibo Holy Mountain, a peak known for its spiritual significance and breathtaking views. The enthralling ascent not only reaffirmed my capabilities but also reignited my enthusiasm for the subsequent challenges. Following this triumph, I returned to Chengdu, the provincial capital, to replenish and prepare for the next leg of my journey.
As the days unfolded, the expedition became more than just a physical challenge. It was an odyssey through the mesmerizing landscapes of Sichuan, each mountain presenting its own unique stories and experiences. The journey was a testament to human endurance, driven by an unyielding spirit to conquer and explore the unknown.

Second Leg of the Expedition: Preparations and Departure
The second leg of the expedition began in Chengdu, where meticulous preparations were carried out to ensure a seamless transition to the mountainous terrains ahead. The bustling city served as a pivotal checkpoint for acquiring provisions included high-energy foods and hydration packs, vital for maintaining stamina during the climbs.
Mental readiness was just as crucial, to engaged in thorough briefings, revisiting survival techniques and outlining emergency contingency. The importance of acclimatisation was emphasised, and daily briefings contributed to the overall preparedness. Departing Chengdu on July 2nd, the excitement and anticipation were palpable as the journey towards Siguniang began.
Siguniang, often referred to as the 'Four Sisters Mountain,' was the designated base for tackling three notable peaks: Dafeng (5025m), Erfeng (5276m), and Sanfeng (5355m). The strategic approach to this segment involved leveraging the proximity of these mountains. This logistical advantage allowed for efficient planning and resource allocation.
The itinerary was methodically crafted. The initial days involved reaching the base camp and undergoing acclimatisation treks to prepare the body for the high altitudes. The ascent would commence starting with Dafeng, providing an initial challenge to test endurance, follow by the focus would shift to Erfeng, slightly higher and more demanding. Finally, Sanfeng awaited, presenting the ultimate test of the physical and mental fortitude.
This strategic approach not only maximised the chances of summiting all three peaks but also ensured optimal use of time and resources. Each climb was meticulously planned, with routes pre-mapped and safety protocols reiterated. With preparations complete and spirits high, I set out with a clear goal: to conquer the next phase of my bold expedition in Sichuan.
